Meet Candy Roberts

October 15, 2019

My name is Candy Roberts and I am a mother of two beautiful little girls, a wife, a farmer and a Chartered Professional Accountant (CA, CPA). I am passionate about the agriculture industry and feeding the world and the success of farm businesses, in particular the “family farm”.  I have just completed my second maternity leave and have had a lot of time to reflect on the future of our industry and what it will mean to my family and my children.  On Tuesday, I return to my role an Accounting and Assurance Manager at Catalyst in Calgary.  I work primarily with producers in the agriculture industry helping them run their farm businesses.  I am passionate about helping farmers, ranchers and other agriculture entrepreneurs sustain and grow their businesses while they compete in an ever-changing, global agriculture industry.

I am pleased to be a participant in the 2019-2020 Advancing Ag Future Leaders Program hosted by the Alberta Wheat Commission and Alberta Barley.  Thank you to Alberta Wheat and Alberta Barley for establishing the Advancing Ag Future Leaders Program. The vision of the program is “To foster a strong network of future agriculture leaders for a progressive and vibrant cropping industry in Alberta” and the mission is “To pair young agri-professionals and producers with industry leaders to impart knowledge and facilitate key professional development opportunities”. Thank you to the sponsors of the program Canadian National Railway (CN) and Corteva Agriscience.

My mentor for the program is Syeda Khurram.  Syeda is the CFO & HR Director of Alberta Barley, Alberta Wheat, Barley Council of Canada & AgSafe Alberta, the Treasurer of GrainsWest and the Chief Operating Officer (COO) of FarmCash. I look forward to working with Syeda over the next year and continued personal and professional growth centered the business of agriculture.

I wish all our farmers out there a safe harvest as you work to get the crop in the bin.
