Hi, my name is Addison Cullen and I’m 24 years old and live in Lethbridge. I grew up in the rural community of Glenboro, Manitoba and went on to take a Bachelor of Science in Agribusiness at the University of Manitoba. After graduating in 2015, I spent about a year coordinating grain and fertilizer truck transportation within Western Canada. I currently work as an Area Marketing Representative for Richardson Pioneer Limited in Magrath and work closely with farmers in the area southwest of Lethbridge. I provide agronomic and grain marketing advice to the farmers in my region. I hold a Pesticide Applicator Certificate in Agriculture with a Seed Protectant specialty through the Alberta Government.
I am excited to participate in the Advancing Ag program for the 2018-2019 year and know I will learn many valuable lessons from the program, and specifically from my mentor. A year from now, I hope to better understand what services farmers and the industry value most from a consultant, like myself. As new technology adoption sweeps the industry, I’m interested to analyze the differences of service requirements from today to next year, to what we can expect in future years. I look forward to networking with industry professionals in all areas of agriculture and know I can learn valuable lessons from other’s experiences.
In my spare time I enjoy outdoor activities including golfing, hiking, and camping in the summer, and downhill skiing in the winter. I referee minor and senior hockey in the winter and also mentor younger referees who are new to the game. I believe there is always something new to learn so I maintain a learning attitude in everything I do, from formal education to refereeing hockey to everyday work.
