My AdvancingAg Adventure

April 4, 2018

At the nine month mark with the AdvancingAg program, I feel that I am off to a great start for

learning key components towards my career goals and more because of this program. My Advancing Ag journey has been focusing on leadership skills, increasing my agronomy knowledge and increasing my Agri- business knowledge all for my career goals and for my own operation.

I started the New Year off by attending the Certified Crop Advisor Tutorial at Olds College. The Certified Crop Adviser certification provides a benchmark for practicing agronomy  professionals. The certification is a voluntary professional enhancement to a person's career credentials. This tutorial was one of my winter conferences travels key learning components for my agronomy goals on my AdvancingAg Adventure.

As the winter conference season starts to wind down the busy spring season is fast approaching. While at the Agronomy Update in Red Deer in January, my mentor, Brett Jans, & I were able to sit down and set a more detailed roadmap for my upcoming months with the program which included planning for how to deal with newly purchased land (soil testing, rotation, etc) and agronomy skills for the 2018 season.

I have really enjoyed all of my learning opportunities so far with this program and look forward to the next three months of the AdvancingAg program. Anyone reading this is free to reach out to me with questions about the program or how to get involved with Advancing Ag program, through my twitter handle @OliSederberg.
